Dear guests of Selnes Camping, dear visitor of our homepage,
The 2024 season has begun and our colleagues have their hands full preparing everything for your vacation with us so that you can arrive with justified anticipation. To prepare for your trip, you should know that the E6 north of Gothenburg is still fully closed after last year’s landslide. This closure will continue for several months. All traffic will be diverted via the E45 Gothenburg – Trollhättan – Uddevalla. Please allow a little extra travel time here.
Most of the work that needs to be done at the moment concerns the campsite. For example, the showers in social building 2 are being renovated. The spring storm completely destroyed a shower door in social building 2 because it was not locked. The door will be completely replaced. The work to complete Haugesund is currently being carried out. On the pitch, the two terraces in the first row are being completely renewed and a third slab is being added. The terraces at Larvik and Namsos are also to be renewed. We are trying to make use of unoccupied periods during the season.
If this proves difficult, these terraces will be rebuilt in September/October. The boat hangers are to be dismantled and the navigation lights moved. We will try to carry out this work while the boat is in operation. As time permits and the boats are available.
The jetty has “suffered” somewhat this winter and therefore needs to be repaired in various places. The river has widened considerably during the winter months and a lot of river and estuary material has been washed into the plain. This may severely restrict the time available to us for launching boats, as we have been deprived of a section of the deep channel.
The jetty was to be rebuilt in two places so that the parking bays, which were previously too small for our boats, could be used. It sounds simple, but given our logistical possibilities, it is a challenge, but it was completed with partial success for the time being:
We installed a quay extension in April. The second is in the hall and will probably be installed at the end of the season in the fall. The conversion of the filleting area was already a concern for us last year, but unfortunately it was not at all feasible in terms of time.
The supporting structure can still be used, apart from a few struts that need to be replaced. The table covering and the plastic panels are completely worn out and urgently need to be replaced. The material has been delivered and we will try to complete the work in stages and in sections during the season.
This may well lead to restrictions. We are already asking for your understanding and support. But I am sure that you will like the new filleting table.
The long-standing issue of Wi-Fi on the square and in the buildings has been addressed time and again. But only touched on. And unfortunately only with rather unsatisfactory results. Satisfaction looks different. Last year there were considerable and recurring failures of the payment terminal, which often required you to return to reception several times.
That is why I have now decided to make a not inconsiderable investment in order to get a stable WLAN network in all the houses and on the site. IT – Overhalla and Elektroservice AS Namsos will set up a network with directional antennas. The amount of the investment will require the use of tickets in the future. I will inform you of the details when the facts and figures are available. In my view, the decisive factor is that coverage will be noticeably improved. To what extent we can allow Netflix, YouTube and the like without restrictions remains to be seen.
We may have to live with restrictions here, because we can only distribute as much as Telenor makes available to us.
And finally, for all guests, visitors and interested parties:
A long-announced innovation has been completed and you have already “found” it:
The new homepage.
Some images are placeholders until we have the “real photos” with the required resolution from Selnes. We are still working on the texts, because after the third correction, the next more precise formulation is already waiting. The user-friendliness via mobile devices has become very convenient and user-friendly.
If you have any criticism of any kind regarding the new homepage (or any other topic), please feel free to send me an e-mail at: guenther@selnes-camping.com
I would be grateful for any comments, because at the end of the day it’s all about one crucial point:
Making your vacation as pleasant as possible.
With this in mind, I look forward to your feedback and, of course, especially to your visit this year.
Best regards
Yours

Selnes Camping supports social project in Hamburg and Lübeck – And you are part of it!
Are you browsing our site to find out something new or to plan your next vacation?
Or are you already enjoying Norway’s nature – fishing, hiking, cycling, reading a book or simply relaxing? In turbulent times, this is almost a privilege and a reward for the efforts of your everyday life. Who thinks about the approaching death, exclusion and life restrictions for people with disabilities in these moments?
Probably very few people.
We at Selnes Camping have decided that we want to make a contribution to the disadvantaged, in which we would like to involve you as our guests both directly and indirectly.
Direct in the sense that your visit to Selnes Camping gives us the opportunity to generate income. This gives us the opportunity to spend part of this income on social projects.
And this is precisely your indirect contribution to the 2024 charity event, for which we would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much.
The charity group Doc & Friends organizes an annual charity challenge in Lübeck, this year for the 5th time since 2019.
The event is headed by nephrologist and sea angler Dr. Niclas Detels.
Together with a dedicated and well-connected team around Toygart Puschin, Olli Roters and many other friends of fishing, he is responsible for raising awareness of the event and for the willingness of a wide range of sponsors to contribute to this event.
Selnes Camping is the youngest sponsor on the list and is currently in last place. Which is not a bad thing, because whoever is in last position here is not last – because they are making a measurable contribution to the weakest among us.
We are donating 2x a week’s fishing vacation in Selnes, in May and September 2025, which will be auctioned off to sea anglers on the occasion of the Charity Challenge in Lübeck on 16.11.2024. The proceeds will go with the proceeds of all other sponsors to the
Sternenbrücke children’s hospice in Hamburg
to support children with cancer in their final phase of life and to the charitable organization
Die Glücksfischer e.V. Lübeck
which supports socially disadvantaged children and young people. It finances fishing equipment for children who would otherwise have no opportunity to pursue this recreational sport.
Doc & Friends has managed to raise over €38,000 for the Sternenbrücke children’s hospice since 2019.
A committed and incredibly important achievement for the weakest among us, which serves to make the time these children and young people have left as pleasant as possible.
We are delighted to be able to actively support this cause. And we are also pleased that we can involve you, as guests of Selnes Camping, in this success.
Best regards
Yours

For about 4 weeks we have been experiencing the phenomenon that the internet connection in Selnes is more than unstable. Credit card billing has been affected, as has the connection to the telematics system of our fuel system. And all this despite the fact that we are constantly
IT environment and bought a new Cisco router just a few weeks ago. In some cases, our guests had to make several attempts to pay. In some cases, we arranged to send invoices because nothing was working and a stable Internet connection was a matter of absolute chance. Unfortunately, all our intensive efforts with Telenor were not really successful for a very long time. They checked via remote maintenance and determined that everything was “in order”. This week, a Telenor employee was finally on site and determined that the power supply unit of our antenna is defective. We will receive the replacement part at the beginning of week 38 – and will hopefully be able to fix the problem. You can see from this example how dependent we all have become on these technologies in all areas of life …
Unfortunately, our connection to the booking system is also affected at the moment. We ask for your patience here too. As soon as the internet connection is stable again, we will send you your outstanding booking confirmations.
We would like to thank all our guests for their understanding and their willingness to support us in an uncomplicated manner.
With us you get the complete fishing experience! Whether it’s exciting drills while salmon fishing on the Namsen, in the fjord from the boat or shore or on one of our guided fishing tours – fishing fun is guaranteed.

With the Namsen on your doorstep, you have one of the best salmon rivers in the far north.
With your aluminum boat you are safe on the road as an angler A trip to the sea is always a nice option. Included with us on request.
You will find various species of fish in the fjord. Compared to the south, the sea area here is less overfished. Try your luck!
